2015 Ronald McDonald House Scholarship
On behalf of Ronald McDonald House Charities, we would
like to inform you that the deadline to apply for the 2015 RMHC Scholars
Program is approaching! The last date to submit applications is January
20, 2015. Students may apply online at www.rmhcnytristate.org
RMHC funds the largest scholarship in the NY Tri-State
area, and this year, the organization is giving more than $725,000 in
scholarship funds to local students. The program seeks to identify and support
students in financial need who have demonstrated academic achievement,
leadership and community involvement.
All students may apply regardless of ethnic heritage for
the RMHC Scholars Program. (Asian, African American and Hispanic
students are welcome to apply for the RMHC Scholars program provided they have
not applied for any of the other scholarship programs that RMHC sponsors).

WNY Mensa Scholarship Program
The purpose of this email is to inform you about a scholarship opportunity for high school seniors. Please pass this information on to your students. The Mensa Education and Research Foundation scholarship program is open now, and students from your school are eligible to apply. Since your college-bound students are likely to be working on their essays now, it is probably a good time to inform them about this scholarship, as it is also based on writing an essay. There are several general scholarships available at the national and regional levels, and in addition to that, Western New York Mensa has another $500 local scholarship that will go to a student from our chapter's area. (Our area includes the Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Erie and Niagara counties, and the western areas of Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming and Allegany counties.) The application process is entirely electronic: all necessary information, as well as the application forms are available on the MERF website: www.mensafoundation.org/scholarships The deadline for applications is January 15, 2015. The Mensa Education & Research Foundation Scholarship program awards thousands of dollars every year to students. Since 1997, the Foundation has given more than $900,000 in scholarships. The amount of money available for awards is about $85,000 a year. In addition, many scholarships funded by local Mensa Chapters are awarded. Western NY Mensa usually awards one additional $500 scholarship to a local student. The Fine Print: • Applicants are required to write an essay, up to 550 words, as well as fill out a general application.
